Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
Shortly called 'Chengdu Panda Base', this non-profit research base is located only 10km away from downtown Chengdu. Many tourists, both national and international, get a chance to discover more about the natural habitat of an exceptional animal, the Panda. Founded in 1987 and opened to the public in 1995, with its focus on the breeding research center, the Panda Base started with 6 giant pandas and registered 110 panda births by 2007. All necessary facilities for pandas can be found by the visitor on the ground of the research base. Furthermore, the 'Giant Panda Museum' was opened in 1993 to provide information about this rare animal species and separated from this you can also find a butterfly and vertebrate museum.
