Located in the northern suburbs of the city and encircled by beautiful gardens, Chengdu zoo (with 18,000 hectares of size in total) is one of the biggest zoos in the whole of China. Its visitors can gaze at 250 species with a number of 3000 animals in total. The zoo has over 30 halls, which show a great variety of designs reflected in green trees. Most important feature of the zoo is by all means the panda house. It is surrounded by ditches and shaded with bamboo and its roomy and creative design is a highlight for tourists from China and all over the world. Ten pandas live in the zoo currently. Besides the panda area, the zoo offers theme areas such as the Penguin Garden, the Goldfish Corridor, a Birds Garden and, among other, a Fox & Monkey Garden.
