Wat Phra Kaew
Wat Phra Kaew, also spelled as Wat Phra Kaeo and known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is located on the ground of the Royal Palace in Bangkok. It is the most sacred Buddhist shrine in Thailand. The primary attraction of the temple is the Emerald Buddha which is a dark green statue standing about 2 feet tall. No one but the Thai king, who conducts rituals at the temple throughout the year, is allowed to come near the statue. A visit to the buildings around the temple will give a better understanding of Thai history and its people.
